Your journey goes to Vietnam

Ihre Reise geht nach Vietnam

Vietnam, a country with stunning landscapes and fertile soils, has developed from a poor country into a leading coffee producer since the 1990s. The mineral-rich basalt soil, in particular, creates ideal conditions for growing high-quality coffee. Today, Vietnam is one of the world's leading coffee exporters. A large portion of Vietnamese coffee is produced in large quantities and destined for international trade. However, in recent years, a remarkable change has emerged – the trend toward specialty coffee is becoming increasingly prevalent in Vietnam, elevating the country's coffee culture to a new level of quality. The goal: to redefine Vietnamese coffee.

Coffee competitions and festivals: Focus on quality

Numerous competitions and coffee festivals take place annually in Vietnam, playing a central role in promoting specialty coffee. Coffee farmers bring their green coffee beans – often weighing between 1,000 and 7,000 kg – to these competitions to be judged by expert juries. The experts assess aspects such as aroma, flavor, acidity, body, and aftertaste. The goal is to objectively measure quality and promote the best cultivation and processing methods.

But these events are more than just competitions: They serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences between coffee farmers, roasters, baristas, and international companies. Workshops and panel discussions address topics such as sustainable cultivation, innovative processing methods, and the optimization of coffee quality. At the same time, they open up opportunities for collaboration between Vietnamese farmers and international coffee companies to jointly shape the future of Vietnamese coffee.
